September 2023 - Wtf are the cards saying?
My hunnies, if you want change in your life, it is entirely possible. You just have to seek it. In fact, forget possible, change is inevitable: it's one of the fundamental unfuckwithable laws of nature. So what stops people from seeking it or seeing it through?
Well, our relationship with certainty for one. Sometimes when we feel the spark of a passion or desire that urges us to make change, we can hold off acting on it because we want to be absolutely certain that if we do, that spark will turn into roaring fire that won't go out. Down this path of waiting lies madness. And stasis. Because while the Ace of Wands absolutely can point us in the direction of obsessive certainty, of clear vision, of a burning desire to get moving, more often than not (ESPECIALLY when paired with a card like the Wheel of Fortune), it speaks to the ephemeral nature of our gut feelings and inspiration. It speaks to the way sparks are just that: sparks. They crop up, and it's up to us to provide the hearth, the kindling, and the matches to help get the fire going. Without input from us, without some courage and a bit of exploration in the dark (8 of Cups), the sparks may never catch. Change may never occur.
Secondly, when we spin the wheel of change (Wheel of Fortune, Fortune Favours the Bold), we invite disorientation into our lives. More often than not, even when we know it is necessary, there is a sad, sucky, scary side to change that our cute little monkey brains would rather avoid. Sometimes this avoidance can come because we are trying to keep very literal sucky-ness at bay: change could mean walking away from everything we've built and held dear for a long time (8 of Cups) whether it be in a career, a relationship, or a personal identity shift. It can mean having to embrace financial uncertainty, emotional ambiguity, loneliness or reliance on the goodwill of others... Which let's be real - our monkey brains don't WANT to embrace, because that shit is vulnerable af.
Other times, the avoidance of change can happen because of less literal reasons. As outlined above, if we can't sustain the courage and action to have faith in our plans and ideas and hopes, we won't make room for change. Courage, boldness, questing and seeking - these are all things that require huge energetic expenditure and stamina, and when faced with the prospect of engaging with these concepts, it can be easier, less scary, more comfortable to simply... not. After all, instigating change can make the visions we once had for our futures blurred and uncertain. And our monkey brains are so attached to control, to having clear ideas of the future, that they'll often opt against change just to keep some clarity - even if that clarity paints a vision of the future that doesn't make us feel happy, inspired or invigorated (Ace of Wands).
So what to do? More than anything: accept that we cannot control everything in this life (Wheel of Fortune), and that even the clearest visions and plans for our futures can be zapped away in a second by freak accidents, health scares, economic crashes, or cosmic comets anyway. So why not embrace that?
If the visions you're seeing for your future right now aren't making you happy and are fundamentally missing something; if you have a spark of something that keeps visiting you that you've felt too scared to follow; if you yearn to seek something bolder and brighter for yourself, something that floods your soul with light and space - THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL. You might as well lean into the cosmic uncertainty we've all been born into. You might as well summon every last ounce of your motherfuckerness and start making some changes.
